10 schools in Raqqa benefited from the “little reader 2” project implemented by the “balloon” organization, which included trainings on the basics of modern reading, Intelligence games and the provision of some equipment to each school.
The project continued over the past August and September, where the organization held training sessions to develop the skills of 4 teachers from each school in the field of fun reading and playing games.
The teachers, in turn, trained the pupils, who carried out some activities during the closing event of the project.
The project aims to raise the psychological and educational well-being of the targeted children, from the age of 6 to 14 years, said the director of the organization, Osama al-thakhira, to Baysan FM.
He explained that children have become in need of safe spaces after the wars to which they were exposed, so the organization created this space inside schools through the project.
He considered that the importance of such projects lies in creating a safe environment for children, because any person who receives adequate and appropriate support, will create and succeed.
Ammunition noted that they decided to target the children’s segment because they are the most affected by the war, and therefore they are compensated with something simple.
Last year, the organization targeted 7 schools through a similar project, compared to 10 schools this year, hoping to cover all schools in Raqqa in the coming years.
